The purpose of the Oakwood Immersion is to provide Christians a new opportunity to: display Jesus Christ in urban areas, gain a better understanding of people who live in a difficult socio-economic status and finally learn and grow in their Christian faith.
The fourth Sunday of every month, we partner with local churches, small groups, or community businesses to prepare a full meal and serve the community. It is a great opportunity to build relationships, find opportunities to share the Gospel and pray for one another.
City of Hope Outreach provides the tables, chairs and music. We ask local churches to provide food, serving utensils and ,most importantly, a loving and gracious heart for those being served.
Christmas is the biggest holiday of the year. The Christmas Store is a place where men and women can come and purchase donated gifts at $5.oo for a box of toys and clothes per child. This opportunity is provided to reaffirm a family’s dignity in being able to purchase gifts and at the same time provide the opportunity for a good Christmas.
Jesus tells us of a feast where we invite those who are unable to repay. This is the Gospel. God has prepared a banquet for us. He has footed the bill and invited us who are blind, lame and crippled because of sin. We come and we are never able to repay the infinite price of this Banquet where Christ is the true bread we feast from. This banquet is motivated by an eternal and historical act. Imagine sitting at a table are the poor and rich, Black, White, Brown and Yellow gathering to feast and declaring a picture of God's great marriage supper!
3R's stands for Reading, Writing and Arithmetic which are the fundementals of all education. We all know that education is essential for a child and CoHO would like to assist families to excel in this area.
King’s Club is our Saturday outreach to the kids of Oakwood.
King’s Club involves games with the kids, singing songs, a small Bible Study and snacks. It is an opportunity to build relationships with the kids and share the love of Christ.
